Cloud based centralised research facility was inaugurated at Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi by Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. Karisiddappa. The facility is established in collaboration with Bengaluru based engineering R&D firm DHIO Research and Engineering Pvt Ltd. This Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) – Center of Excellence will be a unique model in the whole country supporting research scholars to utilise the high end computational hardware and simulation software’s for their research at any time 24/7 from any place.
VTU VC Dr. Karisiddappa, in his inaugural address stressed upon the need of the latest technology utilization in the education sector in the present situation of pandemic due to COVID-19, researchers movement from one place to other place is difficult and also the need of the hour is a research facility, at their convenient time and access from their own place. VTU have made an effort to support the researchers and faculties, with this COE, which enables required infra for research activities, which is one of its kind in India at the present situation. He requested all the Research Scholars and staff of the all the VTU affiliated colleges to make use of the facilities provide by the university at free of cost. He expressed and looking forward the maximum utilisations of the present advanced techniques. He highlighted the effort put forward by the faculties and DHIO Research and Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru in setting up the centre of excellence at the university campus which open to all the research scholars perusing their MSc (Engg) by research and Ph.D Degree. He also mentioned this collaboration brings the rich industrial research experience and hand holdings to the research scholars in achieving the best industrial applicable results.
VTU Registrar Dr. A. S. Deshpande in his address highlighted the unique facilities which aims to provide cloud-based platform access with high end computational hardware resource with advance computational simulations software from the anyplace any time 24×7. He said most of the time researchers struggle to get access to computational software and high end hardware facilities and it becomes expensive for many research scholars so VTU has taken up an step to support the research activities under this Centre of Excellence.
Dr. T Jagadish, Director-Research and Development, DHIO Research Bengaluru highlighted the technical capabilities of this COE, which is interdisciplinary in nature and can be utilised from all branches of engineering, and encouraging collaborative research from nano scale or nano technology simulation to real world problem solving. He felt this COE will be a great help in motivating innovative research ideas and hence more publications in coming days.
VTU registrar Evaluation Dr. Satish Anegiri in speech insisted upon the research scholars to develop the mathematical models and compare the solutions using the present facilities available at the centre of excellence in an innovative manner and expected more and more of multidisciplinary research activities by the research scholars in the days to come. He also expressed the facilities will be an unique Virtualised research facilities for the user and encouraged to take up more research work in the developed technologies.
